"What does it mean to be a writer," I sometimes say to myself. I wonder if a writer is a profession, a dream, a hobby, a lifegoal, or simply a noun.
"To Write" is a verb. So simple. So neat. "It's easy," You say, "You put letters together upon the page." Yet, how do you write? How do you think? How do you manage to put all those thoughts together and describe in symbols those feelings that jumble and turn inside you? It's undescribable. This glorious verb.
Put these together. The noun and the verb. Writer writes. And somehow you create magic. Or maybe it's a chemical reaction. What's the difference? It somehow can create or destroy all in its path. This marvelous thing. A sentence. The power a writer has. It's a scary thing. The Merlin. The wizard. A god? For isn't that what man is seeking. From the very beginning of the Creation that is what the snake tempted Eve. To be like God. To be a god. And thus man has pursued. To be filled with power and to create and destroy. Is writer synonymous with this?
This is what I would like to know: How? Why? What? When? Where?
And once these are answered perhaps I will know.

I like your idea of a writer creating magic...think of all the worlds we are transported to through books and stories. Half of our imaginations are born out of worlds that aren't real, worlds created by someone else, by writers.
I liked this post. =)
i always think and wonder about writing too... hobby or career? i don't think alot of people really understand writers unless they are writers
