Finding Nothing

Do you know what it’s like
to find yourself undesirable?
To realize you are unwanted
by the person you love.
Do you know what it’s like
to be lied to
and be betrayed?
To feel everything good
leave you and to realize that
your eyes burn because there
are no tears left to seep and drop
onto the carpet.
Do you know what it’s like
to lie awake at night
hugging a pillow because
there is no one else to hold?
I lay awake tonight
because I am empty—
everything has puddled on
gray carpet and disappeared
forever. I am gone and
just a shell tonight.
Maybe tomorrow I shall find
that smile. The one that says
I do it because I must.

I am totally in love with this poem Amy!!! I love the emotion...it's so raw...by the way, the critiquing group is a go! We start next Thursday at 10 a.m. in Barefoot's Joe. Sarah and Renee both want to do it. I haven't contacted Andrew about it yet. I'll let you know more details when I get them.
